Packing is a Nightmare!

I consider myself to be a bit of a procrastinator and once again this has proven to be correct.  Here I sit with less than 24 hrs. till departure and I just finished packing (I started around 3:00pm this afternoon).  With a little help from my mom I have managed to fit most of my life and or belongings into 2 huge suitcases.  I have my shoes (every girl's necessity) packed into a carry on duffle bag.  With American Airlines you get 1 free checked bag, as long as it's within the 50 lb weight limit.  The second bag is $50 and then if any are overweight that's an additional $50...what a rip off, eh?!  Needless to say I'll be paying an an overweight fee.

I'm sure the airport tomorrow will be extra fun going through security and such considering it's the holidays and Thanksgiving is one of the busiest days of the year.  I'll fly out of DFW and have one layover in Chicago.  I've always wanted to go to Chicago I will have to say I'm a bit saddened that my first trip will be confined to the airport.  But I'm holding out hope there is a decent pizza place that will serve up some Chicago style pizza!  After my couple hour layover in Chicago I will fly straight to Paris landing at aprox. 8:45 am Paris time (there is a 7 hour time difference from Texas to Paris).

I'm gonna try to get some sleep on the plane so I won't be too incredibly jet lagged upon my arrival.  I may be too excited though to get any rest, that's usually how it goes for me.

I leave you with some food for thought...is it sad that one of my last meals here in Texas was Taco Bueno?! Goodness I'm gonna miss my TexMex!

6 Days To Go...

Here it is 6 days out until my departure for Paris and I've decided to start a blog about my adventures and travels abroad.  This is my first ever blog and I plan on updating it fairly often (I hope)!  It's my last full weekend here in Texas and I have yet to start packing...ahhh! I have, however, made quite an extensive list of the things I do need to pack, so that's better than nothing, eh?  My mom has off work all next week and we'll be running around trying to get everything in order.  I've already bought my plug converters, since the outlets are different in Europe, which are of the utmost importance for plugging in my blow dryer, chi hair flat iron, etc. hahaha!  I've also secured a place in my luggage for some mace that I will be carrying with me in my purse at all times, in case anyone tries to mess with me...YES people I have seen the movie "Taken!"

I should also warn you that this blog my not follow any particualar format because I'll probably just write what pops into my head at the moment.

I'm glad I will be here for Thanksgiving to celebrate with my family before I head out.  I will be gone over Christmas though.  The family I'm staying with when I first get to Pars is having a Christmas feast at their house so I have been assured I will not be spending Christmas alone!  Soon after, my good friend from high school and college, Lauren, will be paying me a visit and spending through New Years with me in Paris!  A pretty fabulous way to ring in 2010, in my opinion!

I don't really have any set plans while living in Paris over the next 6 months...it's more of just a learning experience, seeing what it's like to live in another part of the World, and meetig new people!

I shall now leave you with a quote:  "The World is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page."
